"I've been looking around at the world of photography and saw the threat that generative AI poses to replace us," he says. "This event is designed to remind people that photographers are capable of making your jaw drop with moments that you don’t even notice every day."

Gampat envisions a future where photographers can connect directly with art lovers, free from the pressures of algorithms. "This is the start of a micro-economy that’s really needed right now in the post-social media era," he adds. "Photographers are artists, and we’re going to need to embrace that and remind people why we can’t be replaced by AI. And that requires some uncomfortable work on ourselves that’s bound to blossom into something nice."
The event will be held at Culture Lab LIC, a venue known for its support of local artists and creative endeavors. Vendor applications are currently invite-only, but will open to the public on August 1st. One of the key rules is that AI-generated artwork is prohibited, ensuring that the festival remains a celebration of human creativity.
